The Raw Water Intake is located on the Ivy River in northern Buncombe County.

This is a "Run of the River" intake, drawing water from the river as it flows past.  On an average day, 77 million gallons of water flow past the intake.

River water passes through screens as it enters the Wet Well beneath the building which houses the Raw Water Pumps
